    We have an exciting opportunity to work for a nationally recognised energy business, considered to be the leader in its field. Pay rates from £14 per hour. The role of Warehouse Operative is based in Hook.

    We are seeking a detail-oriented Production Assembly Technician to join our founding manufacturing team in Hook. As an early hire on our production floor, you will play a direct role in refining the manufacturing blueprint for the next generation of energy storage. You will be responsible for the hands-on assembly of our proprietary ZincGel® battery cells and packs – a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of renewable energy storage technology, transitioning from a lab environment to a scalable pilot production line.

    Key Responsibilities of Production Assembly Technician:

    • Mechanical Assembly: Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to assemble battery stacks, including the precise alignment of electrodes, frames, separators and bipolar plates. Since our batteries rely on consistent gaps for electrolyte flow, accuracy within sub-millimetre tolerances is essential.
    • Chemical Handling: Assist in the preparation and filling of electrolyte solutions, ensuring strict adherence to COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
    • Spill Prevention: Execute “Clean-Line” protocols to prevent cross-contamination between the “dry” assembly area and the “wet” electrolyte making/filling station.
    • Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections and basic pressure/leak testing on assembled units to ensure they meet our rigorous performance standards.
    • Machine Operation: Operate basic pilot line machinery, including mixer dyers, heaters, chillers, pallet trucks or automated dispensing systems. .
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate
    • Feedback Loop: Proactively report assembly difficulties to the CTO/Engineering team to contribute to ongoing Design for Manufacturability (DfM) improvements.
    • Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organised workspace to 5S standards and ensure all PPE is used correctly at all times.

    Required Skills and Qualifications of Production Assembly Technician

    • Experience: 0-10 years. No prior battery experience required. Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (electronics, automotive, plastics, or medical devices) is advantageous but not essential.
    • Technical Aptitude: Strong manual dexterity and the ability to use hand tools – including torque wrenches and calipers – with high precision.
    • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow complex, multi-step instructions consistently and without shortcuts. Understanding that a single fingerprint or foreign body on an electrode can cause a hot spot or cell failure.
    • Startup Mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity. You should be someone who asks, “Why are we doing it this way?” if you spot a potential efficiency.

    • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift components up to 15kg.
    • Safety Mindset: A proactive, non-negotiable approach to safety – particularly when working with chemical substances and in a live production environment.
