Hours: Monday to Friday, between 06:00 – 18:00 (flexibility required based on depot needs)

Our client, a leading UK drinks wholesaler and distributor, is seeking an experienced HGV Driver Trainer (Class 2) to join their team at a busy distribution hub in Runcorn. This is a key role focused on delivering high-quality on-road and classroom-based driver training, supporting compliance standards and promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the transport operation.
You will work closely with regional and national fleet teams to identify training needs, support driver development and help maintain safe and efficient operations.
Conduct driver assessments for new and existing HGV Class 2 drivers, including those involved in road traffic incidents
Deliver targeted retraining sessions following assessments or incidents
Observe driver behaviour to ensure safe working practices are followed
Deliver company-specific Driver CPC training and vehicle familiarisation sessions
Support driver inductions, vehicle spot checks and toolbox talks
Assist in accident investigations, including review of in-vehicle camera footage
Provide guidance on tachograph regulations, the Working Time Directive and transport compliance
Maintain accurate training records and ensure the training matrix is kept up to date
Work collaboratively with transport, fleet compliance and health and safety teams
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in driver training and performance
Travel to other depots when needed to deliver training support
Support the operation during busy periods when less training is required
Full HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence with no penalty points
Minimum 5 years of recent HGV driving experience
Driver Assessor Certificate (industry recognised)
Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
Good knowledge of transport compliance, tachograph rules and drivers’ hours legislation
Competent IT user (Microsoft Office, email and PowerPoint)
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with drivers and managers
RTITB certification or similar recognised training qualification
Experience delivering Driver CPC training
Knowledge of accident investigation processes
Familiarity with systems such as Microlise, EPOD or tachograph analysis tools
