Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 DOE (Up to – £16.54 per hour)

My client is a well-established food manufacturer based in Newmarket and is looking for an experienced Gripple Technician to join their production team.
This role would suit someone with previous experience as a Machine Operative, Machine Technician, Production Technician or within a similar manufacturing role who has strong mechanical aptitude and basic engineering knowledge. You will be responsible for keeping specialist gripple equipment running efficiently, carrying out basic maintenance, troubleshooting faults and ensuring production downtime is kept to a minimum.
Working closely with the Production and Engineering teams you will play a key role in maintaining efficient production while ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality and compliance are met.
Operate specialist gripple equipment safely and efficiently
Carry out fault finding and basic mechanical maintenance on gripple machinery
Replenish gripple boxes to ensure the production line continues running without unnecessary stoppages
Monitor machine performance and identify potential issues before they impact production
Record gripple-related downtime accurately using the RedZone system
Escalate faults requiring Engineering support and record causes and resolutions for continuous improvement
Work closely with the Engineering team to minimise production downtime
Direct and support colleagues working on the production line to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
Operate the case end label machine including machine set-up, label checks and changing label reels
Complete all required production and quality checks
Ensure all products are manufactured in line with food safety legislation, customer requirements and company standards
Maintain full product traceability throughout the production process
Follow all quality procedures to ensure products meet required standards
Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across the production area
Work safely at all times in accordance with health and safety procedures
Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote a right first time approach
Previous experience within a food manufacturing or production environment
Experience working as a Machine Operative, Machine Technician, Production Technician or in a similar machinery-based role
Basic engineering knowledge with the ability to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues
Experience carrying out basic machine maintenance and fault finding
Good understanding of health and safety procedures
HACCP and allergen awareness
Basic IT skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Well organised with the ability to work to deadlines
A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
