    Job Description:

    Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Food Technical Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving their food safety and quality systems, with the medium-long term goal of achieving BRC accreditation. The position involves working closely with their plant-based production team to ensure the highest standards are met. They are looking particularly for a candidate with retail own label experience and experience in high-care chilled production.

    Responsibilities:

    • Monitor food safety and quality systems in line with SALSA, while implementing improvements in line with BRC standards.
    • Maintain a strong food safety culture and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organisation.
    • Oversee all aspects of food safety and quality, including but not limited to, ingredient sourcing, production processes, packaging, and distribution.
    • Actively participate in the development of new products, including the creation of HACCP plans and other relevant documentation.
    • Conduct regular internal audits and coordinate external audits by regulatory bodies.
    • Manage supplier relationships to ensure the highest quality ingredients are sourced.
    • Lead investigations and root cause analysis for any quality or food safety issues.
    • Provide training and support to staff on food safety and quality procedures.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
    • 8+ years of experience in the food industry, in a technical or quality role.
    • Strong understanding of food safety standards and regulations, including HACCP & BRC.
    • Experience working with RTE (ready-to-eat) food products is highly desirable.
    • Proven track record of implementing and maintaining food safety and quality systems.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.
    • Experience in plant-based food production is a plus.
