As the largest social media network, Facebook celebrated its 10th birthday on the 4th February, so as one of the UK’s largest regional agency networks, First Call Contract Services has decided to look at how Facebook has affected recruitment. It may come as a surprise that recruiters were some of the first to take full advantage of this platform, using it to tap into a large pool of potential candidates from a variety of industries.
In a 2013 survey, 94% of recruiters currently use or plan to use social media in their recruitment campaigns, while 78% of recruiters have hired candidates through a social media platform. These platforms provide recruiters with a much faster way of finding candidates as opposed to word of mouth or networking. Recruitment services like First Call are able to search for certain skills based on keywords which enables them to identify potential individuals just with a few clicks of the mouse.
Facebook pathed the way for other networks like Linkedin, which is fast becoming one of the most popular sites for a recruitment company to use, with its professional face it’s the perfect place to scout for potential talent.
Many agency networks have also used the likes of Linkedin and Facebook to spread their company message and brand, effectively using this as another marketing platform.
